Thornling seed

My guild i scurrently trying to down Huhuran, so I’ve been reading a
few of the recent posts regarding this encounter with interest. One of
the things I’ve noted is that many people mention using thornling seeds
when she gets enraged to soak some of the damage.

I looked up thornling seed on thottbot to see where I might obtain
that, and it said it’s from a thornling pod or somesuch in Dire Maul.
But where in DM do I find this pod? Do I need to go to a certain wing
of DM? And how many of these pods are there, just one in a specific
place or are there a bunch of them spread out over the whole instance?

TIA for any help on this

they are in DM East, spread all over. When you try and open it, it’ll
either pop and release poison gas, pop and release 4 little plant dudes
or you’ll end up with a thornling seed and some runn tum tubers.

If you know the back entrance to DM East (the old mage grind spot)
there is a pod just inside there surrounded by a bunch of non-elite
plants, you can farm that pretty easy, there may be others around you
can farm solo too.

I think I do know that place, it’s the pavilion north of the horde
camp, right?

I believe that requires a key though, I’ll have to bribe a rogue to
come with me I guess 🙂

Thanks for the tip.

Found it, thanks a lot. Let the farming commence 🙂

My guild is about to start trying the Huhu fight soon, and I was
looking for some clarification on this. The Wowwiki page says hunter
pets do NOT count towards this 15 person soak limit — yet a couple
people have mentioned sending in pets at 30% and planting thornling
seeds.

Do Thornling Seeds help? Do hunter pets help?

I have not yet fought this encounter, but expect to in the next week or
so (we just downed Sartura and should get Fankriss on Sunday) — so
want to know if I should start farming DM for these things.

Yes, pets help (not your imp in phase shift though:), and that includes any
summonable pet that can fight and/or take damage. including Thornlings.
The locks in my guild seem to prefer their Felhound for this, I guess it has
higher resists or health. Sorry guys, Speedy the turtle just doesn’t cut the
mustard for this 🙂

A demo lock with 5 pieces of nemesis has 310 resistance to any school
on his felhunter, which is not a bad feat if you use him to soak up
magical damage 🙂

Which is why I wonder about these thornling seeds. As apparently a lot
of people on these boards we are on the verge of having our first go at
Huhuran. I read up on the thornlings and apparently they have somewhere
between 1000 and 2000 hp. However, as they are plants I wouldn’t be
surprised if they have some nature resistance built into them. Can
anyone confirm this? How long do they last on average once the enrage
phase kicks in?

There’s a lot of good reasons to use the felhound. First, it has 60 innate
resist without doing anything else. Then, if you have a 5 piece on either
tier 1 or tier 2, the resist gets bounced up AGAIN. And finally, if you’re
master demonologist, there’s another beef up of resistance. My felhunter
has an across-the-board resist of 360. It can soak up a LOT of damage.

Hunters have the ability to raise their pet’s resistance through training,
and that helps here too, but I don’t think you’ll find any hunter pets with
outrageous levels the felpuppy has. *
